Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Recycling is tedious, I know, and I can’t afford to make massive gestures, but as they say, every little bit helps the wider issues we are all facing on the planet!
I always make sure that when people take the time and effort to support my studio by ordering from my store, www.darrenrye.com the items arrive with them in perfect condition.
I always fret that once I’ve posted them, as it’s then in the hands of the postal service, (literally) and they don’t know what’s inside each parcel or how much you are looking forward to receiving it or how long I’ve spent making it, that it will get squished in transit.
This means that sometimes your print will arrive in one of those plastic and paper sleeves to ensure the inks stay clean and don’t rub on the cardboard outer sleeve. Cards may be packaged in a plastic slip sleeve to make sure that they don’t get spoiled in transit, before you have a chance to send them to their final recipient. I always use either previously used packaging or plant based degradable 'plastics'. Even the Sellotape is plant based and eco-friendly.
Let’s face it, you’re probably not going to cherish those board backed envelopes, bubble wrap or print bags as much as the things protected inside them! So, when you receive the parcel, if you open it carefully and the wrapping or protective cover looks like it can be used again, I’m happy for you to send it back to me and I will reuse it on the next appropriate order. I can’t pay you back for the postage, but as I usually don’t charge much for domestic shipping in the UK, the cost to you is likely to be a pound or even less.
Thanks for being part of my journey!
Darren
